Purcell Smith III, M.D.
Dr. Purcell Smith, III is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and specialist in hand surgery and upper extremity surgery. He is the former Chief of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical Center of Plano and is currently a member of the medical staff of Baylor Plano, and Baylor Frisco.
Education & Background
Purcell Smith III, M.D. was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, Dr. Smith’s family moved to Arkansas where he received his undergraduate degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Dr. Smith received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Science and pursued further training in hand surgery through a fellowship at the University of Florida JHM Health Center.
Dr. Smith is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is licensed to practice in Texas and Arkansas and keeps current with medical advances by attending frequent post-graduate continuing education courses in orthopedic injuries. Dr. Smith and his wife, Susan, live in Plano.
