Total Joint Replacement

What is it?

Total hip replacement surgery is regarded as among the most valued developments in the history of orthopedics. This procedure provides surgeons the ability to relieve pain and restore function to patients whose joints have been destroyed by trauma, disease such as arthritis or fractures and allows the patient to return to daily activities such as walking, running and living life with no or minimal pain.

This technique uses an incision on the anterolateral part of the hip, instead of a more traditional incision on the side or back of the joint. This allows the surgeon to work between the major muscles of the hip instead of cutting through them or detaching them from the hip or femur. By preserving the tissue, the anterior approach may minimize recovery time.

Every surgical approach has risks and benefits, and only an orthopedic surgeon can tell you if hip replacement and which technique is right for you.

If you are experiencing hip pain, weakness of the hip, stiffness of the hip or night time hip pain, give us a call 972-250-5700 or make an appointment now.
