Whiplash
What is it?
Whiplash is a neck injury that can occur during rear-end automobile collisions, when your head suddenly moves backward then forward in a quick jerking motion somewhat like the cracking of a whip. These extreme conditions force your neck muscles and ligaments beyond their normal range of motion.
Symptoms
Symptoms can occur immediately after an accident or injury or they may occur several days later. Whiplash sufferers may experience neck pain and stiffness, headache, dizziness, difficulty chewing or swallowing, burning or prickling sensations, or shoulder and back pain.
Treatment
Whiplash may be treated with a soft cervical collar that immobilizes the neck while it heals. Other treatments include medication, physical therapy and nerve blocks.
If you are experiencing back pain, neck pain, weakness of the neck, stiffness of the neck or have a spine injury, give us a call 972-250-5700 or make an appointment now.
