Treating SLAP Tear in Plano, Frisco, McKinney and AllenWhat is it?

SLAP Tear is a condition where there is a tear of the labrum in the shoulder joint where it connects with the biceps tendon. The labrum is a ring of cartilage around the shoulder joint socket and the tear at this point is known as a SLAP (Superior Labrum Anterior Posterior) tear. Typically this is caused by trauma to the shoulder, such as a fall with the arm outstretched.

Symptoms

Sensations such as the arm catching when moved or during the throwing motion along with pain are common symptoms.

Treatment

Options include conservative treatments such as rest and anti-inflammatory medications, but if the tear does not heal a surgical procedure may be needed to repair the joint.
