Arthroscopic Acromioclavicular (AC) Joint Separation Repair in Plano, Frisco, McKinney and AllenWhat is it?

Arthroscopic Acromioclavicular (AC) Joint Separation Repair is a dislocation its an injury that actually involves the AC joint, not the shoulder joint. The AC joint is where the collarbone (clavicle) and the highest point of the shoulder blade (acromion) meet. An AC joint separation may happen due to direct trauma or a fall with an outstretched hand and often occur as a result of full contact sports.

This procedure is used to repair the severe separation of the AC joint. In the procedure the ligaments are brought together and a heavy suture or surgical screw is inserted through the clavicle and into the part of the scapula to hold the joint in place during healing.
