ORIF Surgery for Proximal Humerus Fracture in Plano, Frisco, McKinney and AllenWhat is it?

ORIF Surgery for Proximal Humerus Fracture is when the bone fragments of the proximal humerus are shifted out of place surgery is typically required. This surgical procedure repairs the break in proximal end of the humerus by using an ORIF (open reduction internal fixation). During this procedure, an incision will be made and a metal plate will be attached to the humerus to hold the bone in place while it heals. The bone commonly takes 8-12 weeks to fully heal and you should expect to begin physical therapy 3-4 weeks after surgery.
