Hammertoe Correction (PIP Joint Arthroplasty)
What is it?
Hammertoe Correction: This surgical procedure is used to correct a hammertoe, a deformity of the toe that causes the toe to become permanently stiff or frozen in a bent position. During this procedure, a small piece of the bone is removed to shorten the toe and allow it to straighten. When the procedure is completed, the patient will often walk with a post-operative shoe or boot and typically recover in 6-8 weeks following the surgery.
